Eternal Power becomes a member of aireg

Hamburg and Berlin, 20 June 2024 – With Eternal Power, aireg (Aviation Initiative for Renewable Energy in Germany) has gained a pioneer of green hydrogen and its derivatives as a member.

Eternal Power builds a global integrated mass producer of green hydrogen and its derivatives by developing, financing, building and operating production facilities. Its aim is to solve the main challenge and also bottleneck of the green hydrogen sector: the large-scale production of fully sustainable hydrogen at a competitive price to serve a massively growing demand for the future. To tackle this, Eternal Power covers the whole value chain and is already working on developing multiple projects globally (Germany, Sweden, Chile, Spain and many more).

To form a renewable economy, sustainable aviation is essential and Eternal Power can play an important role in this transformation. The aviation industry requires large quantities of sustainable aviation fuels to achieve this goal. Hydrogen-based SAF production (PTL-SAF) offers significant advantages in terms of climate friendliness, sustainability and long-term scalability. Through its large- scale projects, Eternal Power enables the supply of vast quantities of PTL-SAF at a competitive price point. With its industry expertise and extensive network within the hydrogen space, Eternal power is uniquely positioned to contribute at multiple fronts.

Dr. Moritz Schwencke, Co-Founder and CEO at Eternal Power, explains: “We are looking forward to being a part of aireg to support the greater goal of enabling sustainable aviation. Through covering the whole value chain of green hydrogen and its derivatives, we are able to provide significant value to enable mass production and mass adoption of SAFs in the near future, especially with our large green methanol plant we are developing as part of a consortium in Sweden. Together with aireg and its members we can accelerate the path to decarbonization.”

Prof. Dr. Jürgen Ringbeck, aireg President for Industry and Aviation, explains: “aireg is pleased to welcome Eternal Power, a pioneer in green hydrogen and its derivatives, as a new member. Their commitment to building sustainable large-scale production of hydrogen and methanol will also benefit the aviation industry. Together we share a vision of sustainable aviation and are ready to accelerate the path to this transformation by making SAFs widely available and affordable. We are very excited about this partnership, which is another step in our journey to build a strong network of partners in the SAF production and supply chain, with the goal of making Germany a leading market for PTL-SAF.”

About Eternal Power:

Eternal Power works towards the global mass production of green hydrogen and its derivatives. Eternal Power covers the whole value chain: developing green field production sites encompassing utility-scale renewable energy generation, production of green hydrogen and conversion to its derivative (eg ammonia). The firm secures those sites globally at ideal locations (eg Germany, Sweden, Spain, Chile). The products will be sold and shipped to off-takers such as utilities, fertilizer producers, chemical companies and shipping / logistics groups. Eternal Power is technology agnostic and will source leading renewable energy and electrolyzer hardware to secure a leading, “rock-bottom”, cost position (LCOE and LCOH).

About aireg:

aireg – Aviation Initiative for Renewable Energy in Germany e.V. was founded in 2011 as an association of companies and organisations from industry, research and science. As a non-profit initiative, aireg is committed to the availability and use of renewable energies in aviation in order to achieve the ambitious CO2 reduction targets of the aviation industry. The members come from all areas of the value chain of renewable energies for aviation: This ranges from research at universities and large research institutions, plant manufacturers and operators, biorefineries, the petroleum industry, engine and aircraft manufacturers, governmental organisations, non-governmental organisations and airports to airlines. The industrial members internationally cover a broad international spectrum, from start-ups to large corporations.
